Biography
With more than 20 years’ experience as human resources professional and leader, consultant, and coach, Karen Gulliford is the owner of Great Workplaces LLC, a business dedicated to leadership and career transition coaching, HR and Organizational consulting, diversity, equity and inclusion strategy, and conflict management/mediation services.
Karen’s diverse industry experience includes retail, publishing, law, healthcare, state government, higher education, financial institutions, and non-profits.
Karen holds a M.Ed. in Adult Learning with a concentration in Human Resources Development from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation. Some of her certifications in assessments include: Conflict Dynamics Profile™, and Emotional Intelligence (EQ-I 2.0). Karen is also a Certified Workplace Mediator. Karen has been successful in coaching leaders (emerging, developing, and executive leaders) in many types of organizations. Karen’s passions and strengths are in the following:
• Helping leaders of diverse groups manage work issues such as inclusion, acceptance, conflict, burnout and stress management at work
• Helping leaders of all levels of experience become more strategic and get out of the day-to-day 'weeds'
• Helping leaders achieve better energy, productivity and communication
Karen has a well-developed background in teaching and workshop facilitation, including instructional design, small group work sessions, strategy sessions and group coaching. Typical topics Karen has facilitated recently are: Conflict Management, Managerial Coaching, Talent Management and Selection, Performance Management and Strategic Leadership.
