Biography
Prior to becoming a Board Certified Coach with a focus on Executive Coaching, Bill Jacobsen served for 12 years as the Administrator of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount, Virginia and Vice President, Carilion Clinic. Prior to that position, Mr. Jacobsen served in various healthcare and foreign missions roles. Mr. Jacobsen served as Vice President for Development for Asian Access, an international mission creating leaders across Asia. Prior to his work with Asian Access, Mr. Jacobsen served in healthcare business development and healthcare administration roles with such organizations as The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, The Virginia Insurance Reciprocal, Riverside Healthcare System, Hospital Corporation of America, Renex, FamilyCare America, among others. He started his healthcare career as a management engineer in 1981. Mr. Jacobsen holds a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University where he served as President of the Class of 1989 and received the Cardwell Leadership award upon graduation. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Science in Management Engineering from Grove City College, Grove City, Pennsylvania, Class of 1978. Mr. Jacobsen is a very active Rotarian, and has served on the Boards of the Free Clinic of Franklin County, the Franklin County United Way, Central Virginia Healthcare Executives Group, Ferrum College Business Advisory Board, Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association Services Corporation, Virginia Rural Health Association, and as Vice President of the board of Orphan Medical Network International, a medical mission working primarily in Zambia, Africa. Mr. Jacobsen is also a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and served on the Governing Council of the American Hospital Association Section for Small and Rural Hospitals.
