Keeping the Flame Alive: How a Coach Can Help Clients Avoid Burnout

Our clients come to us in hopes of making positive changes in their lives and businesses. Burnout gets in the way of that. Let’s look at what the research tells us about burnout syndrome. It has become more prevalent in our fast-paced society in both professional and personal arenas, affecting children as well as adults. This course will equip coaches to recognize what burnout is and is not; how to distinguish burnout from depression in order to refer appropriately; and identify personal and institutional risks factors that make burnout more likely. You will learn interventions to manage burnout to share with your clients whether they are corporate CEOs, helping professionals, moms, or maybe even yourself.

Learner Outcomes

1. Distinguish between and define stress, depression, and burnout.

2. Identify three personal and professional risk factors that contribute to burnout syndrome.

3. Name three personal and three institutional strategies to address and prevent professional burnout.
