Narrative Coaching: Bringing New Stories to Life

1 Core, .5 RD CCEU

Narrative coaching is a mindful, experiential, and holistic approach that helps people shift their stories about themselves, others, and life itself to create new possibilities and new results. It allows coaches to shed much of what they thought coaching had to be and free themselves to engage more fully and simply with another human being.

Developed through 20 years of study and experimentation, narrative coaching blends principles and practices from psychology, anthropology, and ancient wisdom. It’s deep roots and integrative approach means that people can create more sustainable results in less time. It is based in the rites of passage framework and supports change as a natural human process. It is a minimalist, non-dogmatic and pragmatic approach that gets to the crux of issues and provides structure for the emergence of their resolution.

There are six narrative coaching principles that will be reviewed and taught in this session:

  • Trust that everything you need is right in front of you
  • Be fully present to what IS, without judgment
  • Speak only when you can improve on silence
  • Focus on generating experiences not explanations
  • Work directly with the narrative elements in the field
  • Stand at the threshold when a new story is emerging

Ultimately, narrative coaching is an experiential and developmental process of awakening - to what is true, what is possible, what matters, and what works. Participants will take away basic knowledge of the Narrative Coaching Framework, and better understand the tenants of Narrative Coaching and how they foster behavior change within the coaching process.

About the Presenter:

Yedda Stancil, MBA, CNC, IDP, MMT is a consciousness coach and consultant. Her expertise is waking people up to their truth and then showing them how to operate their business and life from this authenticity. She is a certified narrative coach, mindfulness meditation teacher, trainer and health coach whose road to success began at the feet of four masters: studying leadership from Ken Blanchard, entrepreneurship from Cameron Herold, mindfulness from Deepak Chopra, and narrative coaching from David Drake.

For over 25 years she’s worked to bridge the gap between corporations and community health by supporting clients to change their behaviors and grow their businesses through narrative coaching, neuroscience, health coaching, personal training, integrative medicine, and mindfulness meditation.

She holds an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University where she was the entrepreneur in residence, and currently teaches entrepreneurship at the Robins School of Business and integrative development internationally with WBECS.

Yedda has also taught courses in female leadership, entrepreneurship, and empowerment in universities in Africa and the Middle East. She opened the first integrative medicine practice and first holistic health club in Richmond, Virginia, and today owns and operates the premiere corporate wellness company in the region.

Yedda is also the founder of Mindfulness Bar - a fun, friendly place to practice yoga, meditation, and mindfulness, with her signature, sassy twist, of course. Her ultimate passion is to create sacred, safe spaces that invite people to wake up and remember who they already are.
