Join us at the Harrisonburg Innovation Hub, Conference Room 1A, for a professional development session, "Alternative Ways to Begin," hosted by Bob Kolodinsky, PhD, ACC, of Kolo Leadership Solutions.
Bob will build on ICF Core Competency 3. Establishes and Maintains Agreements:
Definition: Partners with the client and relevant stakeholders to create clear agreements about the coaching relationship, process, plans and goals. Establishes agreements for the overall coaching engagement as well as those for each coaching session.
Scenario: You’re about to start your 4th session with a client, with whom you seem to have established a trusting relationship. Partly as a result of your coaching, the client has told you that your coaching has helped them gain more courage to directly address difficult work challenges and conversations.
1] What might you do BEFORE this session to feel prepared?
2] What are alternative ways to BEGIN the session and establish the agreement for it?
Applying knowledge from the coaching literature, Bob will facilitate a discussion on alternative ways to address these questions. Additionally, participants will pair off and practice a new way (i.e., new to each coach) to begin a session. We will conclude with what was experienced, as well as what new learning participants are considering adopting.
FOCUS: Professional Development (1.25 CCEUs)
TOPIC: Alternative Ways to Begin
FORMAT: Interactive, Paired-Discussion/Practice
We hope to see you there!
